Reminder Day Tea Dance
A Commemorative Celebration

SATURDAY, JUNE 24, 2023
2PM - 5PM

A celebration to commemorate Reminder Day, one of the earliest organized gay rights demonstrations in the United States, held in Philadelphia in 1965 -and subsequently until 1969. Reminder Day sought to bring awareness and remind the public that basic rights of citizenship were being denied to homosexual individuals. Also to commemorate Tea Dances, events organized on Sunday afternoons in the 1950s and 1960s in New York. They were outdoor events for people to meet and originally served tea rather than alcohol to make them more acceptable and less law-defying.

The event has been moved inside the History Center with live music, taquitos and tacos for sale by Tuckedito, as well as beer for sale by Locust Lane Craft Brewery.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is suggested.
