In 1897 Mrs. D.W. Jackson (Philene) wrote letters to her neighbors in Chester and Lancaster County, inviting them to share their memories, memorabilia and history.
She diligently collected their responses and contributions.
Her daughter, Elizabeth W. Jackson continued the letters of invitation and contributed to the collection
In 1967 her three grand nieces, Martha Jackson (Lilley), F.Emily Jackson and Esther Jackson (Hogg) donated the collection to CCHS.
This “Jackson” collection therefore is a collection of memorabilia (which have been removed to the CCHS curatorial archives), some genealogical information and historical information of the area around Steeleville in Chester County and Bart Township in Lancaster County
