Paintings Preserved: Conserving Chester County’s Art History (virtual)

May 2, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

To highlight Conservation Week 2023, Mark Bockrath, paintings conservator, will discuss examples from the CCHC museum collection that he’s worked on, and the challenges and rewards involved with art conservation. Ellen Endslow, CCHC’s Curator, will join him to share the thought process behind how CCHC chooses which paintings to conserve first, and the detailed work required to safeguard them for future generations. With conservation funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, these paintings by local artists of local subject are good examples of just one aspect of the work that the Collections team at Chester County History Center does every day.

Event is Pay As You Wish! Your donation goes to the care and conservation of over 750,000 manuscripts, 100,000 photographs, and 70,000 artifacts.
