Cartooning Chester County: The Art of the Story

August 23 @ 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us for a one-of-a-kind cartooning workshop that blends art, storytelling, and local history! Presented in collaboration with the Charles M. Schulz Museum, “The Art of the Story” introduces young artists to the timeless power of comics.

Through a fun and interactive session, participants will learn how Charles M. Schulz drew from his own life to create the beloved Peanuts characters—and how four simple panels can tell a meaningful story. The workshop includes a short slideshow about Schulz and his storytelling process, followed by a step-by-step drawing lesson where kids learn to draw Snoopy and create their own comic strip using classic cartoon conventions.

After the workshop, students will use their new skills to create original comic strips based on their own lives in Chester County. For those interested, we will scan these cartoons and add them to a new digital collection in the Chester County History Center Library archives—so future generations can discover what life was like through the eyes of young artists today.

$10.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors 65+, $7.00 for children ages 6-18. FREE for members of CCHC with code. Tickets include all-day access to our museum exhibits.  Purchase Tickets Here

Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable. We thank you for supporting CCHC and it’s mission.
